Policy Premium Payment Options

If you are a Policy Holder with an account through one of our Agents there are a variety of Premium Payment Options.  Including what to do if your payment goes Non-Sufficient Funds (NSF)  If you wish to pay in person our staff will be happy to assist you, and provide you with a receipt.  And, don't forget to pick up our complimentary Pen and Scratch Pad.

Full Payment Cash

Full Payment Personal Cheque or Money Order

Made out to Yarmouth Mutual Insurance


Online Banking

If you choose to pay online please use the Insured/Holder number which is located directly above your name on your insurance policy declaration page as the reference number on your transaction.  (example)

Posted dated Personal Cheques
Made out to Yarmouth Mutual Insurance
a maximum of 3 cheques dated as of the effective date, 30 and 60 days after that.

Preauthorized Payment Plan
Speak to your Agent about setting up a monthly payment plan.  There is a 3% additional service charged for the service.
An application must be signed and we will require a two (2) month down payment and a Voided cheque from the account that the money will be debited from.

Debit Card Payment
We now have interact in our office for your payment continence.

Credit Card Payment
If dealing with an Agent Full Payment of Policy can be made at our office.  If dealing with a Broker we only accept Credit Card for the down payment only of a Preauthorized Payment account.

What to do if your Payment goes NSF

Property Policies: (Residential, Farm, Commercial)

Should we receive notice from the bank that your payment (cheque or preauthorized) was returned with Non-Sufficient Funds (NSF) the following will occur.

  • A letter will be mailed to you notifying you of the NSF notice it will explain that a $25 service fee has been added to the premium owed and that it must be paid within fourteen days (14) of the letter date. Payment can be made by Cash, Money Order, Debit or Online Payment are the only payment options. Personal cheques will not be accepted but a certified cheque from your bank will.
     
  • If the down payment for a preauthorized payment plan comes back with a NSF notice the policy will be register cancelled for non-payment of premium.
     
  • We will allow a maximum of two (2) NSF notices in a policy term if a third notice is received the policy will be register cancelled for non-payment of premium.
     
  • If you do not pay within the required fourteen (14) days the policy will be register cancelled for non-payment of premium.

A copy of the cancellation will be sent by registered mail to all listed additional named insureds, mortgagees or lien holders on the policy.

Exception:  If the NSF notice was due to a error by the bank you must bring in a letter from the bank explaining the error and the $25 service charge will be waived or refunded.

If you are the client of an Insurance Broker, Yarmouth Mutual only accepts Credit Cards when paying the down payment of a Preauthorized account. 

The down payment only all sub sequential payments on the account must be made from a valid Bank or Credit Union account.  A void cheque for the account must accompany the Preauthorized Payment Application.
